Faith No More

A drawing of a photo of one of my all time hero’s, Mike Patton

David Bowie

From the age of 12 I have just wanted to be Bowie. The look, style, control, songs, voice (and I do a half decent impersonation, given a mic. Honest...)

It's one of those unmistakably perfect faces that still holds androgynous ambiguity that makes Bowie such a challenge to draw.

Original Size : 250 x 160

Medium : Chalk, Pastel & Pencil

Conor

Nephew, friend and guitar god with an insanely astute mind, and also happens to also have the most striking and engaging features.

How annoying... One of my favourite pieces both technically, and emotionally.

Original Size : 250 x 160

John and Megan

Drawn in 2013 this drawing tries to capture the love of two people sharing in a single moment

Rukka

After presenting Richard with the finished piece and with a smug satisfaction, the one and only comment I received back was 'I'm not that ginger'. Brilliant and honest...

Well yeah, Rukka. You are now.

Bob Dylan

After presenting Richard with the finished piece and with a smug satisfaction, the one and only comment I received back was 'I'm not that ginger'. Brilliant and honest...

Mother

It's a daunting task to capture the image of someone you know so well and who also happens to be a best friend, so this picture was a challenge.

Medium : Chalk, Pastel & Pencil

Kate Bush

Drawn in 2013 during October after I broke my leg, I was laid up, sofa bound and found myself listening to Kate Bush albums and specifically Rocket Man on repeat. Reminiscing my teenage years I searched for pictures of Kate and this one captures the essence of the girl I remember, exploding lyrics into the world like an abstract artists with pots of paint.

Original Size : 250 x 160

Medium : Chalk, Pastel & Pencil

Ariel

A present for a friend who appreciated the amazing airbrush art that was so prevalent in the 80's with the likes of Boris Vallejo rendering incredibly realistic images of amazonian women and men next to mythical monsters, with such conviction and anatomical perfection that they were totally believable and awe-inspiring. This is what I wanted to be able to create throughout my teen years so desperately.

Catriona

CAT'S EYES

Catherine's eyes always reminded me of the eyes so often featured in Tamara De Lempika paintings. Azure and heavily lidded and sensual..

August 2013

Nymph

Nymph  - an untold story..

Lou Reed

Using the defined lines of a drawing pen made the glasses jump into the foreground with a clarity that pencils couldn't re-create no matter haw I tried. It captures the perspective of good photography better than most of my other work.

My beautiful godson. Cheeky grin and mischievous..
